Mountain Blend Chardonnay: Intense expression of the mountains

Image
From argentine producer Santa Julia arrives in the Quebec market a new wine that fortunately in my opinion helps to open the door for discovering new flavors and varieties of Mendoza. The grape Chardonnay, the star of the whites in the world, also has a very special terroir in the Uco Valley. This mineral and refreshing white wine, pleasantly surprised me by its delicate aromas of apple, jasmine and peach, and a slight but consistent structure in the mouth. With only 6 months in oak barrels, the wine preserves its fruity character and some flavors that remind me of the stony and alluvial soil so characteristic of the region. A delicious wine perfect for uncorking any of these summer evenings while it rests in the SAQ stores!  (Marina La Forgia)

Urban Uco: A very good and high Malbec

Image
Urban Uco Malbec 2015  Bodegas y Vinedos O. Fournier  Uco Valley – Mendoza – Argentina  SAQ Price: $ 18,70 The international Malbec day is fast approaching and, to get myself into this topic, I decided this Friday to bring you an interesting proposal to discover! This Malbec comes from the prestigious winery O. Fournier located in the Uco Valley, where the vineyards are planted at 1100 meters high. I was surprised by its character so intense and so pleasant with seductive notes of evolution. A Malbec wine with strong body and personality. In the nose, it is easy to perceive black fruits and plum in compote, notes of caramel, leather and marmalade. In the mouth, it continues to offer those sweet and fruity notes. With round and soft tannins, it is a succulent wine, flavoury, with a very unctuous and pleasant final.  Ideal for drinking now. A good food pairing: pork ribs in BBQ sauce. The sweetness of the sauce and the marmalade fruitiness of the wine wil...

Zuccardi Wines: from innovation to action

Image
By Marina La Forgia If I think of the wines of Zuccardi, a single word comes to mind: Innovation. This 100% family-owned Mendoza winery is one of the unique producers to offer one of the largest offer of wines, of all ranges and for all palates. And if I have the opportunity to taste them, as I did thanks to participate in an event for the press, another word comes to describe them: Originals. They are wines that everybody should taste in its widest variety, because they express much of the Argentine identity and its potential. Here in Quebec, it was with their hyper sold Fuzion that they kicked off in this market. The unexpected success of this entry level blend wine has not made them "fall asleep on their laurels," but quite the opposite. Driven with conviction by its representative agent, Elixirs, the winery has set out to conquer the Québec consumer with what they do best: Argentine wines that are representative and different at the same from the Uco Valley reg...
