Finca Agostino: adding value to the good Argentine wine offer in Quebec!

It is always a pleasure to see that the offer of Argentine wines continues to grow in these lands. And even more so when they are wines that go beyond the already standard and emblematic pure Malbec. It is not at all my wish that this variety cease to be a registered quality mark for my beloved country. I only consider opportune to invite consumers to discover and to be seduced by different Argentine wines, some good blends or made from other grape varieties. In a wide proposal you will find hidden and infinite treasures.
Since a few weeks, they are available on the SAQ shelves and I was curiously seduced by tasting these two wines from Finca Agostino, a winery whose history interconnects Argentina and Canada. Its owners are four brothers from Italian origin who lived their childhood in Mendoza and then emigrated in the 60s to Montreal. They promised to return and honor their grandfather and their lands, and thus was born this winery located in the beautiful andean lands of Maipú.
Let me introduce you this 2 wines: a white and a red, two bivariatelas of a genuine character, versatile, fresh and generous. Bonne dégustation!

Agostino Finca 2014
Chardonnay - Viognier
Maipú - Mendoza
SAQ Price: $ 19.95
A great white wine that has captivated my palate. Already in the nose offers us an intense bouquet of tropical fruits, with some subtle notes of vanilla, which is very pleasant and persistent. In the mouth it envelops us with a generous, fruity and refreshing body. A malolactic fermentation for six months in oak barrel has brought the elegant smoothness that makes it a quality white wine. The Chardonnay and the Viognier combine to each other with a great dexterity and versatility, offering us a delicious wine, easy to drink and difficult to forget. Alone or to accompany a meal, is a white with strong personality. 100% recommended!

Agostino Finca 2014
Syrah - Malbec
Maipu - Mendoza
SAQ Price: $ 19.95
This Malbec - Syrah is in my opinion a wine of both young and matured character at the same time, fruity and refreshing in equal proportions, delicate but intense. Its spicy notes given by the Syrah provide fresh and enveloping aromas, while Malbec offers notes of ripe plum, violets and cherries. With a soft and round attack, it is a wine of fine tannins, balanced and medium intense body. The ripe fruits notes are predominant and has a very pleasant final that leaves us with a feeling of wishing even more! A delicate wine that perfectly accompanied one of the best Argentinean dishes: tasty grilled  red meat. (MLF)
