Carchelo Selecto Crianza: the perfect wine to fall in love with Jumilla

Image
Carchelo Selecto Crianza 2012 Bodegas Carchelo DO Jumilla Monastrell, Tempranillo, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon SAQ Price : $24,80 Jumilla, Spanish wine region to discover and to fall in love with. The Carchelo Crianza is a wine that undoubtedly can part of a larger league, it has an exceptional quality. An elixir of red grapes, a blend of Monastrell, Tempranillo, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon in perfect proportions. From one of each varieties it has taken a little, but it is the hand of the winemaker who did this delicious blend giving also and then a step by oak barrel and an aging in bottle with such a great precision. Thus must be the Crianza ones: noble wines, intense and powerful. Carchelo is not the exception, but the rule. And I even dare say, it is pretty perfect. In the nose, it is an endless aromas of ripe red fruit, leather, pepper, cinnamon, caramel. In the mouth, it is a fleshy, unctuous, intense and mysterious wine. A great Crianza, very well achieved and bal

One of the Beaujolais by excellence in Quebec honors Montreal

Image
Beaujolais Pisse-Dru Patriarche 2015 AOC Beaujolais – France SAQ Price : $13,55 Pisse Dru, the most Canadian of the Beaujolais, made his arrival in Quebec back in 1955 and since then it has been maintaining a strong bond with the consumer and local culture. The proof is the winery's decision to pay homage to the city of Montreal, its main market, on the 375th anniversary of its founding, with a special edition of aesthetically beautiful bottles. As all classic Beaujolais, it is a unique and original wine of the Gamay Noir variety and with semi-carbonic maceration. We find in the nose fruity aromas of cherry, blueberry, raspberry and strawberry. On the palate it is also a very balanced fruit explosion, young and enveloping. Its freshness and friendly tannins make it a versatile red wine, easy to drink and very seductive. Beaujolais is a wine that is always ideal to drink between 13 and 15 degrees, the right temperature in which it expresses its maximum potential. On

Errazuriz Aconcagua Costa Chardonnay and Pinot Noir: the new appelation that begins to make us talk

Image
Have you ever heard about the Aconcagua Costa appellation? It is perhaps Viña Errazuriz, the winery of great prestige in the Canadian market, the pioneer in putting into the world map this unique geographic region, perfect for the cultivation of the vines. Thanks also to the savoir faire of its winemaker Francisco Baettig, this new coastal area, along with the classic Aconcagua from the Cordillera (mountains), becomes a special terroir that gives a new identity to Chilean wines. It is exactly as if we find in this South American region everything that characterizes the terroir of the old world in the new world: less exuberance, more finesse and elegance. From this appellation, I would like to introduce you today the Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir. Two different, fresh, and very delicate wines, that show a new facet of Chilean wine and that fortunately are available in the market of Quebec since a few weeks. A premium Shiraz finished in Whiskey barrels... and ready to conquer Quebec! Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel Shiraz Barossa Valley – Australia SAQ Price: $ 21,25 Jacob's Creek is one of the most beloved Australian wineries for the Canadian public. Its wines, basically mono varietals Shiraz, captivate the local palates for its generous explosion of flavors and aromas that represent the savoir faire and the Australian terroir. But, undoubtedly, what also likes the people from this winery is its innovative character, its continuous search to produce exceptional wines that at the time of being tasted, they offer us the pleasure and enjoyment that we are looking for. Jacob's Creek always tries to offer that much-needed bonus to recognize a brand over any of the others.  I have known their wines for a long time, their young syrah and their mature wines, with or without a barrel, but always with a seal that identifies them. And for the first time I had the opportunity t

Cavit Pinot Grigio: typical and right expression

Image
Cavit Pinot Grigio 2016 Cavit Collection IGT delle Venezie SAQ Price: $ 11.75 One of the emblematic varities of the Italian whites, the Pinot Grigio is probably the favourite one for the Quebec's consummers thanks to its simple character, its pleasant perfume, its soft tasting notes and its refreshing acidity. Cavit, recognized wine house of Trento, offers to us this wine coming from the beautiful region of Venice at an affordable price as a delicious and attractive appetizer for the sunny evenings to come. Served between 7 and 10 degrees, it expresses the maximum potential: fresh, dry, floral and seductive. A well-done white wine with no greater pretension than to taste well and enjoy, just like that. Undoubtedly, this Pinot Grigio is one of my favorite whites in the price range of 10-12 dollars. (MLF)

Have you already been seduced by the Bulle de Neige ciders?

Image
By Marina La Forgia All over Quebec, Cider Week is being held. And to join this initiative here you have my suggestion, the sparkling ciders Bulle de Neige. Now also in its rosé version, they are a real refreshing delight! Bulle de Neige Rosé is a brut sparkling cider, elaborated under the traditional method, to which the Neige Première ice cider is added as an expedition liquor to give it unctuousness and elegance. Very attractive in color and presentation, it is a rosé cider with fine bubbles and aromas of fruits like blueberry, raspberry, strawberries, and some very delicate floral notes. In the mouth, these very pleasant notes of fruit are still refreshing. Ideal to drink very cold. The Bulle de Neige Rosé is a light and different drink for an appetizer, which will turn everyday moments into an occasion to celebrate. On the other hand, the Bulle de Neige traditional, gold medal of the Cider World of Quebec 2017, is a demisec cider well balanced in sugar and acidit

Ibizkus: a walk through the wines of the land of Ibiza

Image
By Marina La Forgia In recent holidays on the paradisiac island of Ibiza I had the opportunity to visit the Ibizkus winery and taste its interesting wines. Same image of the natural beauty of this little corner of the world, the Ibizkus wines are very attractive thanks to the careful aesthetics of their bottles and because they are wines of flavor and particular aromas. Some of the few and only under the appelation of Tierra de Ibiza wines. The adventure of producing wines for Ibizkus owners is recent, only from 2007, and since then, they have intended to offer to the local and international markets only high-level wines made from locally grown grapes, all coming from different parcels of the island. I appreciate the kindness and hospitality with which they received me. It was an enriching and unique experience! The wine Ibizkus line includes 4 labels, and here my tasting notes: Ibizkus White An aromatic and delicate blend white of 75% Macabeo and Malvasía Ibicenca, with 2
